Soil disturbance, compaction and vegetation removal during the process of removing structures and reclamation of resources would initially have minor-to-moderate, temporary adverse impacts. With adherence to BMPs during and after work completion soil erosion and compaction issues would likely be reduced to tolerable levels.
However, upon grading and replanting of native vegetation soils at the site would gradually improve, thereby resulting in positive, moderate long-term improved conditions. Ultimately, removal of the Lower Tennessee Valley stables would result in beneficial impacts to soil resources at the site after work has been completed. Once equestrian activities have been removed and the area has been reclaimed by grading and replanting, the soil would not be exposed to the factors that contributed to erosion, compaction and nutrient inputs. This would result in long-term, localized, positive impacts to the soil.
